Laois Community Groups awarded €170,000 under Local Enhancement Programme 2026

€173,900 in funding has been awarded to Laois Community Groups under the 2026 Local Enhancement Programme.
Today, Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, Dara Calleary TD, and Minister of State with responsibility for Community Development and Charities, Jerry Buttimer TD announced the successful projects awarded under the Local Enhancement Programme (LEP) 2026.
The Local Enhancement Programme 2026 was launched in December 2025 and it will provide capital funding of €7 million to support projects nationwide that are essential for many small community groups and organisations, particularly those who serve disadvantaged areas in rural and urban areas. A total of over 4,100 individual projects will be funded, supporting thousands of community organisations across the country.
134 community organisations spanning across the three Laois Municipal Districts have been awarded this funding for community projects.
Welcoming the announcement, Georgina Ireland, Chief Officer of Laois Local Community Development Committee said:
“We are delighted to see this funding announcement today for community groups across the county. Whether it’s to a GAA club, Parents Association, event, local club or a community service, investing in communities is key to ensuring high quality services in every town in Laois. This funding is another important step to ensuring Laois continues to be an attractive place for people to live, work and visit.”
