Laois community organises night with Miriam O'Callaghan for Pieta

A VERY special charity event, , will take place on Wednesday 21 January in the Woodford Dolmen Hotel, bringing together sport, music, humour and personal stories. It’s been organised by members of the Killeshin community and is in aid of Pieta, a charity that gives support to those affected by suicide while also working in suicide prevention and awareness.
Hosted by broadcaster Miriam O’Callaghan, the evening is being held in memory of Sharon Brennan, who passed away in July. Sharon’s family is organising the event to honour her life while raising vital funds for Pieta, whose services supported them in the aftermath of her death.
Sharon was deeply connected to her local community, particularly through Killeshin GAA, where her husband Paul is club chairman and her two sons play. In recognition of the extraordinary support shown by the GAA community, the night will feature a powerful GAA panel including Jarlath Burns, Rónán Maher and Gavin White. Together, they will reflect on leadership, resilience and the vital role of community in times of loss.
The event will also include a deeply moving conversation with Sharon’s sister Fiona and local woman Kim Nolan, both of whom have experienced the devastating impact of suicide in their families. Their stories of grief, hope and survival will be supported by Pieta CEO Stephanie Manahan, who will outline the services the organisation provides to individuals and families across Ireland.
Adding warmth, humour and entertainment to the evening, audiences will also enjoy appearances by social media storyteller , comedian Al Porter, a live musical performance by singer-songwriter Robert Grace and local musician Ali O’Neill.
will be an evening of honesty and heart â balancing difficult but necessary conversations with laughter, music and a strong sense of togetherness.
Tickets are on sale and local organisers encourage the community to come together for what promises to be a memorable night.
