Laois gardaí find drugs worth €120k during search of local residence

Gardaí in Co. Laois arrested a man and seized suspected illegal cannabis and cocaine with a total value of approximately €122,400, during the course of a search of a residence.
Laois Drugs Unit assisted by the Laois Detective Unit carried out the search under warrant in Stradbally, Co Laois.
The search was carried out as part of Operation Tara targeting the sale and supply of controlled drugs.
During the course of the search, approximately €85,000 cannabis herb, €35,000 cocaine and €2,400 cannabis resin were seized.
A man (aged in his 40’s) was arrested in connection with the investigation and is currently detained pursuant to Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at a Garda station in the Co. Offaly area.
The seized substances are subject to analysis by Forensic Science Ireland (FSI).
Investigations are ongoing.
