LAOIS has a new queen, following a truly wonderful Rosenallis Festival of the Mountain and Vintage Rally on Sunday.

Mary Ellen Tynan was crowned Queen of the Mountain, to the delight of her proud parents Timmy and Mary. Her beautiful dress is more than 40 years old and was made by her mother.

The Rosenallis Queen is pictured above with judge Caroline and Irish Wolfhounds Moll and Roisin, with handlers with handlers Hugh and Christina Kelly.

About 2,300 people flocked to the grounds at Glenbarrow, a record-breaking crowd for the county’s oldest festival which began in 1962.

With a fantastic new main stage, there were Bollywood dancers, belly dancers and endless entertainment throughout the site, with the famous Timahoe Male Choir among the highlights.

See our two-page feature on the memorable festival in next week’s edition of the Laois Nationalist, in shops and online on Tuesday, 25 August. Our weekly e-paper costs just €1.50 online and can be purchased as a single edition.
