THE Laois ICA marquee was a hive of activity during the recent Ploughing Championships at Ratheniska.

The marquee was officially opened on Tuesday morning by national president of the ICA Mary D'Arcy from Wexford, whose grandfather, incidentally, won the national ploughing competition in 1931, 1933 and again in 1937.

The Federation president Deirdre Dunne also gave an interesting and informative presentation on ALONE where she is a Support co-ordinator and like all helping agencies is looking for volunteers.

From demonstrating their activator pole skills to relaxing and watching a mouthwatering cookery demonstrations by Celebrity Chef Edward Hayden, the Laois Federation members were kept quite literally on their toes throughout the course of the three day event.
