PPNs from around the country met in Leinster House for pre-budget talks with deputies and senators. Laois PPN co-ordinator Dan Bergin was chosen as one of the regional representatives along with his colleagues Siobhan Cronogue Longford PPN, Bridie Costello Offaly PPN, Muriel Tobin Waterford PPN, and Paul Clabby Roscommon PPN.

PPNs are seeking additional funding to enable them to better support their growing number of registered Member Groups, Reps and resulting workload.

A presentation outlining the work and challenges of PPNs nationally was given by Bridie Costello and Siobhan Cronogue and was followed by a lively Q&A session involving all representatives on the presentation panel. Support was promised by every TD and Senator in the room.

Senator Micheál Carrigy - Longford-Westmeath said, “It was an honour to host the PPNs at Leinster House this week.” He added “This meeting was an important step in ensuring that PPNs have a strong and recognised voice in our national conversation. I fully support their call for increased funding in Budget 2025, which will enable them to continue their vital work in advocating for and representing communities across Ireland. Its crucial that we continue to strengthen policy and decision making at the highest levels.” Dan Bergin, Laois PPN Co-Ordinator said “Thank you Senator Micheál Carrigy for the opportunity to present at Leinster House. Thank you to all cross-party Independent Deputies and Senators who attended, all giving their full support to increase PPN Funding 2025. We are delighted to have had this opportunity and we look forward to a positive outcome for PPN’s in Budget 2025”.
