AT the heart of Laois PPN is community — and that spirit was truly alive at their Walk for Wellness event, held as part of Laois Connects 2025.

This year’s theme, ‘Community,’ was beautifully reflected as community groups from across Laois came together to support and celebrate positive mental health and wellbeing.

Participants enjoyed exercise and connection on a peaceful walk through Garryhinch Wood, followed by great food and warm conversation over breakfast at The Hare’s Corner.

Dan Bergin, Laois PPN Co-Ordinator, said: "A special thanks to Mountmellick Men’s Shed, who kindly acted as our guides for the walk. Your support and local knowledge made the morning even more special.

“This year’s Walk for Wellness was a powerful reminder that sometimes, it’s the simplest moments – a walk, a chat, a shared meal – that can have the greatest impact on our wellbeing.” Laois Connects is led out by Laois County Council, with a wide variety of events taking place across the county, all focused on promoting mental health, wellbeing, and strong community ties.
