Laois Traveller group to launch cookbook
'Beurs & Lackeens - Cooking Through the Years' will be launched on Tuesday 17 December in the Dunamaise Arts Centre at 5pm.
THE first ever cook book compiled by members of the Laois Traveller Action Group (LTAG) will be launched on Tuesday 17 December.
The launch of the Traveller Cookbook entitled ‘Beurs & Lackeens - Cooking Through the Years’ will be held in the Dunamaise Arts Centre, Portlaoise from 5pm and light refreshments will be served.
The women’s section of LTAG have worked hard over the last six months to produce the book which is full of traditional, every day, hearty recipes, stories of times gone by and images of the enjoyable project.
As part of the Adult Literacy for Life campaign, LTAG received funding to work on the project with the support of the Laois/Offaly Education and Training Board Community Education department.
The 11 ladies of the group who worked on the project look forward to showcasing their culture, literature and art.
