LAOIS Vintage Limited announced details of their upcoming sponsored road run at a special launch event on Friday, 12 June, at Treacy’s Bar & Restaurant, The Heath.

As in previous years, the sponsored run will be held in aid of Laois Hospice. It will take place on Saturday, 15 August, from Treacy’s Bar & Restaurant, with a commencement time of 9.30am.

Founded in 1996, Laois Vintage has raised and donated €1,147,354 to Laois Hospice. This sum was accumulated over a period of 28 years as during COVID the run could not take place.

In a statement, Laois Vintage said that this “outstanding” sum “could not have been achieved without the unwavering support we have received, year after year, from our fellow vintage enthusiasts, friends and fellow supporters, and for this we are truly grateful.” The statement continues: “Not only do our participants at this event share the joy of taking their vintage vehicle on the open road, but support and acknowledge the vital work carried out by our local hospice.” This year, the car run will visit Duckett’s Grove, at Kneestown, Co. Carlow, a grand mansion owned by the Duckett family, with impressive walled gardens and grounds.

Tractors will take a round trip to Mountrath, via Portlaoise and its surrounds, with an official stop-off for light refreshments at Eddie Kirwan’s Bar, Shannon St., Mountrath.

All vehicles will then return to Treacy’s between 3.30-4.00pm, approximately, where a full meal, hosted by the Treacy family, will be served, and commemorative plaques will be distributed to each participant.

The statement from Laois Vintage continues: “As always, we like to assure our supporters and sponsors that all monies received by Laois Vintage will be donated directly to Laois Hospice, and members of the public, who give so generously, can be confident that each and every donation received will go solely and exclusively to Laois Hospice care”.
