Large number of patients lying on trolleys in Portlaoise hospital
A total of 22 patients are lying on trolleys in Portlaoise hsopital today Tuesday 7 January waiting for beds.
THE latest figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) show there are 700 people waiting for a bed in Irish hospitals today Tuesday 7 January.
444 patients are waiting in the emergency department, while 256 are in wards elsewhere in the hospital.
In Portlaoise hospital a total of 22 patients who have been admitted are waiting on beds.
Five of these are lying on trolleys in the A&E department and the remaining 17 patients are on trolleys in various wards around the hospital waiting for beds.
Today’s figures at Portlaoise hospital are down 15 from yesterday’s total of 37 who were waiting on beds and were lying on trolleys.
