Luna wins Laois Puppy of the Year contest

A LAOIS Corgi puppy, who was crowned the Laois winning ‘Petmania’s Puppy of the Year’  came second in the national final last week.

To qualify for the final in Laois, Luna beat the other contenders in the competition, that was held in the Petmania store in the Portlaoise Retail Park, and represented the county in the final of the 9th annual canine competition which is becoming more popular each year.

It was Luna’s, “genuine and engaging personality,” that won over the hearts of the judges and placed her in second position of the all-Ireland competition.

Luna’s owner and dog-lover Ruth Roberts from Portlaoise was thrilled with the award.

She said: “My dog Sam was my best friend for 13 years. When he crossed the rainbow bridge last year he left a huge hole in my heart that I never thought would be filled.

“When little Luna came along with her cute puppy smile, big cuddles and even bigger heart it has brought immense joy back into my family’s life.

“I’m so happy that Petmania and the Puppy of the Year competition has allowed me to share her joy and puppy smiles to anyone who needs it. I’m so proud she was selected as a finalist, and so appreciative to everyone that voted for her.”
