Massive Facebook appeal helps locate missing Portlaoise man
Joe Styles was located safe and well
SIX hours after 89-year-old Portlaoise man Joe Styles was reported missing he was back home with his family.
The nephew of Joe, Niall O’Loughlin posted on his Facebook page at about 5pm yesterday Thursday 26 December asking people to share the photo of his missing uncle.
He said Joe who is near 90-years of age “left his home this morning at 8.15am residing in Portlaoise all his life. He has not returned home as of yet. He is driving a Red VW Golf.
“It is completely out of character he may be parked up or driving somewhere lost at this stage. Has been reported to Portlaoise Garda Station. Anyone can contact me or any Garda Station if that car is spotted or Joe.
Seconds of the post hitting Facebook it began circulating on social media sites and within hours had been shared over 1,700 times.
Later last night at about 11pm Niall came back onto his Facebook page with an update on the search, informing that he had been found safe and well and thanked everyone for their support in helping to trace Joe.
