One of the properties along Mary Steet in Durrow that the owner is hoping to use to accommodate those seeking accommodation under the International Protection Accommodation Scheme.
THOSE opposed to plans for International Protection Accommodation Services (IPAS) centres in Durrow are holding a public meeting on Monday 21 July at 8pm in the local Castle Arms Hotel.
The ‘Emergency Public Meeting’ notice was advertised on the ‘Durrow Laois Ireland’ Facebook page.
The meeting organisers said: “The meeting will be against the proposed plans for IPAS Centres on Mary Steet, Durrow (formerly Lennon’s Bar and Peader’s Bar).
“A number of public representatives have been invited to attend. Everyone is asked to support us in protecting our town.”
Marc Lennon, the owner of the two properties along Mary Street, has applied to Laois County Council for permission to convert his premises to accommodate people seeking international protection under the IPAS Scheme.
