MOUNTMELLICK Credit Union continued its fine tradition of supporting local groups, clubs and organisations when more than 60 local volunteers were invited to its head office on Thursday evening 10 April to mark the union’s annual community fund awards.

Representatives from a wide range of organisations across Mountmellick, Clonaslee, Rosenallis and Rathangan dropped in for a group photo and light refreshments as part of the informal celebration.

In total, over 40 community groups received donations through this year’s fund.

The community fund is an annual initiative designed to offer modest financial support to local clubs, charities and voluntary organisations involved in social, sporting or cultural activities. Each year, groups are invited to apply for funding to assist with projects, events or general upkeep.

This year saw the introduction of a new, fully online application process, a move welcomed by both applicants and the board for its simplicity and efficiency.

Following a vote by members at the most recent AGM, the community fund will open for applications each January or February.

The credit union extends its thanks to all who attended for their time and for their continued service to the community.

Updates and information about next year’s application window will be made available on the Mountmellick Credit Union website and social media channels.
