A NEW booklet telling the story of St Peter’s Church of Ireland in Portlaoise has been published by local man Alan Clegg.
The fascinating booklet explores the history of St Peter’s, its place in the life of Portlaoise and some of the people and events connected with the church over the years.
Titled ‘A Short History of St Peter’s Church, Portlaoise’, copies of the booklet are now available from the church, which has been welcoming local families for generations.
The Portlaoise Union with Ballyfin Church of Ireland said on social media: ‘Many congratulations to Alan on putting this history together and helping to record the story of St Peter’s for future generations.
‘It is a lovely opportunity to learn a little more about the church and its history, particularly for those who have worshipped at St Peter’s over the years and for anyone with an interest in the heritage of Portlaoise.’
