Permanent road repairs needed in Portlaoise estate says local councillor

Cllr Caroline Dwane Stanley has called for more permanent road works to be carried out in Hillview Drive and Cherrygrove estates in Portlaoise.

WHILE potholes have been filled in both Hillview Drive and Cherrygrove estates in Portlaoise a local councillor has called on the council to carry more permanent road repairs in the areas.

Cllr Caroline Dwane Stanley said she had sought the potholes to be repaired, a number of weeks ago and acknowledged, at the Portlaoise Municipal District Council meeting in June, that the work had been done, which she welcomed.

She said the road surfaces in the two areas has become, “very bad and that there’s other estates in the area too that needs to be looked at as well. But it’s only a matter of time that the rain will wash the tarmac out of the potholes again. Perhaps we can look at putting these two areas into the roads programme for next year and put a final proper layer on the roads. It’s a long time since those areas were done.”
