Portarlington service suspended after tractor hits train

A RAIL service has been suspended after a train struck a tractor this afternoon.
Iarnród Éireann said shortly after 4pm that a train struck a tractor between Portarlington and Tullamore.
The company said that services on that part of the line have been suspended as a result of the collision.
In an update on social media shortly after 4.30pm, Iarnród Éireann said: ‘The 13:10 Westport to Dublin train is stopped on site and the 14:48 Heuston to Wesport is being held.’
Emergency services are at the scene and the company will provide updates later.
