Portlaoise hit by power cuts

THOUSANDS of homes and businesses in Portlaoise were left without electricity this morning, following a major outage.
More than 2,200 customers in the town and surrounding areas were affected by the fault, which happened shortly after 8am.
ESB Networks apologised for the loss of supply and said it is working to restore power to all affected customers.
The estimated reconnection time is 11.30am but there may be a longer wait for properties in outlying areas.
