A VIGIL in memory of a woman who lost her life in a violent assault will be held in Portlaoise next week.

Mourners will gather at the Memorial Park on the Ridge Road at 6pm on Friday, 17 July to honour Adina Raluca Constantin, who died following a violent assault in the town’s Church Street last Sunday.

Organisers are inviting people to bring a candle to light in memory of Adina, whose death has caused immense shock and sadness for her family and friends. Candles will also be available at the event.

The peaceful gathering aims to honour Adina’s life and offer support to her family, friends and all those affected by her death.

A Go Fund Me appeal titled 'Adina Raluca Constantin' has also been launched by her devastated family, to repatriate her remains to her native Romania.

Appeal organiser and family member Ioan Olimpiu said: ‘We are devastated by this unimaginable loss. During this incredibly difficult time, we are facing significant financial challenges in covering the costs of her funeral and repatriation.

We want to give Adina the dignified farewell she deserves and bring her home to rest with her loved ones. Any contribution, no matter how small, will help ease the financial burden on our family and will be deeply appreciated … Thank you for your kindness, generosity and support during this heartbreaking time.’
