Presidential hopeful canvases Laois people for their votes

Independent Presidential candidate Catherine Connolly paid a visit to Portlaoise earlier today, encouraging the people of Laois to give her their no 1 in the forthcoming Presidential election. The independent candidate was accompanied on her canvass by Independent TD Brian Stanley and local Independent councillor Caroline Dwane-Stanley.
Although a date for the Presidential Election has yet to be set, Catheriene Connolly is first off the starting blocks and is ahead of, what is a very small field. Heather Humphries (FG) and Jim Gavin (FF) are the only names confirmed to be on the ballot paper and take over from the current President Michael D Higgins, whose term of office comes to an end next month.
