Raheen Vintage Rally set to return next month

RAHEEN Vintage Rally is set to return to Corbally, Abbeyleix on Sunday 12 July, promising another day of vintage heritage, live entertainment and general family-friendly activities.

What began as a gathering of vintage enthusiasts in 2009 has since developed into a major community event that celebrates rural traditions, farming heritage and local talent, while also raising valuable funds for local charities and worthy causes.

Leading the club this year is chairman Chris Goode, Linda Byrne as joint club and show secretary, alongside Alanna McGowan, with Amy Quinn continuing in her role as PRO and Bridgit O'Connor taking on the position of treasurer.

A special feature of this year's rally will be the celebration of 80 years of Zetor, recognising one of the most iconic names in agricultural machinery. Vintage enthusiasts will have the opportunity to view a range of tractors, cars, trucks, motorbikes, stationary engines and farm machinery across the decades.

Country music star Gavin Gribben and The Ennis Brothers will provide live music throughout the day, while a number of dancing events will take place, including a jiving competition and line dancing lessons.

Other activities will include vintage tractor and car display, trucks and motorbikes, stationary engines, display of farm machinery through the years, auto jumble, threshing demonstrations, traditional forge, chainsaw carving, thatching demonstrations, country market, bake sale, bottle stand, children’s entertainment, dog show in association with The Haven Rescue, the popular cow sh*t bingo, Laois Model Aero club and Laois Archery.

The club will also introduce a sensory tent at this year's event. The dedicated space will provide a calm, quiet and safe environment for children and adults with autism or sensory sensitivities who may need a break from the busy atmosphere of the rally.
