Relative arrested following discovery of body in Laois five star hotel
The five-star Internationally renowned multi-award winning Ballyfin Demense where the tragic incident took place.
The ‘Laois Nationalist’ has learned that the body of the man found deceased in Ballyfin Demense yesterday evening was a relative of the man who was arrested by gardaí.
The man in his 30s was arrested when gardaí were called to an incident at the hotel, shortly before 8pm yesterday evening Tuesday 12 November where a man in his 60s was found deceased.
Sources said that the younger man had been travelling around Europe and had been acting strangely in the hotel. Hotel staff brought the man to hospital where he was given medication and released before returning to the hotel.
Worried staff contacted the man’s relative in New York who travelled over to Ireland to be with him when the tragic incident occurred at the poolside of the hotel.
It is understood the man is currently receiving medical attention in a Laois hospital and gardaí will continue interviewing him when he is fit to do so.
A Family Liaison Officer (FLO) has been appointed to support the family of the deceased.
