Rosenallis launches St Patrick's Day street fest

The countdown is on to the big parade in Rosenallis, with street entertainment for the first time

ROSENALLIS is counting down to a fun-filled St Patrick’s Day parade, with cash prizes and even a search for the Best Dressed Dog.

With street entertainment for the first time and an earlier start of 2.30pm, this year’s festivities promise an action-packed afternoon for all the family.

Local pet owners are encouraged to get creative and deck out their dogs in their finest emerald attire, for a chance to win the brand-new competition category of Best Dressed Dog.

All attendees and participants are invited to Rosenallis Community Centre for a warm reception, with free tea, coffee and delicious treats. The committee will donate all contributions for refreshments towards the Rosenallis NS fundraiser, as the school gets set to represent Ireland at the VEX IQ World Robotics Championships in St Louis, Missouri in April.

At about 4pm, the crowd will be treated to a special performance by the Dance on Stage School.

The parade committee is calling on local clubs, schools, businesses and vintage enthusiasts to get involved, with a competitive prize fund for floats. Cash prizes are:

* 1st Place: €100 * 2nd Place: €75 * 3rd Place: €50

Vintage vehicle participants will also be honoured with commemorative plaques for their contribution to the display.

To accommodate the new schedule, participants are asked to note the following assembly times:

* Floats and Vehicles: Assemble at Johnsgrove at 2pm.

* Walking Participants: Join the line-up at the Church of Ireland at 2.15pm

The Rosenallis St. Patrick’s Day Parade is a community-funded event that relies on the generosity of donations from the parish, Laois County Council and local sponsors and the passion of its volunteers.
