A WOMAN was seriously injured in an incident that took place at her home in Graiguecullen between Wednesday 25 and the early hours of Thursday 26 March.

The woman, in her 50s, was brought to St Luke’s hospital, Kilkenny after presenting to paramedics as unresponsive but breathing. Gardaí said she had sustained bruising to her right upper arm, her abdomen and chest, trauma to her right eye, with dried blood visible around her mouth and on a bedsheet.

The incident took place at Tower Hill, an apartment block at Bridge Street, Graiguecullen. Among items at the scene seized by gardaí was an empty Smirnoff vodka bottle.

The woman’s partner, who lives in the apartment with the victim, is a suspect in the case. Investigations are ongoing and the man has not yet been charged with any offence in connection with the incident.
