PEOPLE FIRST Credit Union was delighted with the exceptional performance of local primary schools in the recently Credit Union Schools Quiz. The annual competition, which was held in the Abbeyleix Manor Hotel on Monday 10 February, showcased the remarkable talent of young students from the community.
A team from Shanahoe NS claimed first prize in one of the two sections.
The quiz is comprised of two categories: competition A for entrants aged ten or younger on 31 December 2024, and competition B those aged 12 or younger.
Gaelscoil Phortlaoise claimed top spot in Competition, while the winner of Competition B and trophy winners for 2024 was Shanahoe National School. These talented teams displayed exceptional knowledge, teamwork and dedication throughout the competition, securing their place in the next round.
As the competition progresses to Chapter level, Gaelscoil Phortlaoise and Shanahoe NS will represent People First Credit Union on the weekend of 7-9 March with hopes of advancing to the national final. Chapter level includes the winners and runners-up of both competitions, with the ultimate aim of reaching the national final on Sunday 6 April.
People First Credit Union extends heartfelt congratulations to both Laois schools. Their success reflects not only their incredible knowledge but also the support and guidance they receive from teachers, parents and their local communities.
