FOUR primary schools in Laois are currently engaged in the Creative Schools programme, which this year has embraced a theme called ‘Make your mark’.

During Creative February, pupils from primary schools in Clonaslee, Wolfhill, Portarlington and The Swan came together to ‘make their mark’ using the written word, and creative story writing, through Laois Libraries.

Creative associate Aideen McHugh collaborated with librarian Lori Moriarty, supported by the staff of Laois Libraries, to bring pupils from the four schools to create their own shared stories through the ‘Fighting Words’ initiative.

During February, the four schools completed workshops together in pairs, to create two fun and exciting stories, which came together in a publication and was officially launched on 1 March in Portlaoise Library.
