UPDATE: More drugs found during multi-million drugs seizure in Laois
A further 17 kilos of cocaine with a street value of €1.3 million was found during the ongoing operation.
FOLLOWING on from the €12.8 million seizure of cocaine and cannabis herb in Mountmellick yesterday, gardaí found another 17 kilos of cocaine with a street value of €1.3 million, along with €25,000 in cash in west Dublin.
GARDAÍ from the Dublin Crime Response Team (DCRT) conducted an intelligence led operation in Mountmellick and a number of other locations yesterday evening Tuesday 4 February.
In the initial search in Mountmellick they seized approximately 182kg of cocaine and 4kg of cannabis herb with estimated value of drugs seized is in excess of €12.8 million.
Eight vehicles along with drug paraphernalia were also seized in the course of the operation.
The three men who were arrested remain in custody under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996, at Garda stations in the Eastern Region.
Investigations are ongoing.
