Police are investigating the sudden death of a woman in Co Down.

The 44-year-old was found unresponsive in a property in the Skipperstone Road area of Bangor at approximately 2 am on July 14th.

Police said despite treatment in hospital, she sadly died on the evening of July 17th.

They said a 54-year-old man was arrested on July 14th on suspicion of carrying out an assault.

He was subsequently released on bail pending further inquiries.

“A post-mortem examination has now taken place, however, further tests by the pathologist are required to support and inform the investigative process,” a police spokesperson said.

“Specialist officers continue to provide support to the family, as the investigation continues.”
