Portlaoise ladies get the rugby season off to a perfect start

Portlaoise ladies ready for action against Newbridge
Portlaoise Ladies 59
Newbridge Ladies 15
ON Sunday Portlaoise Rugby Club hosted Newbridge in a 10-aside ladies’ rugby clash that saw the home side storm to an emphatic 59–15 victory.
What made the win even more impressive was that the Portlaoise team was made up mostly of newcomers to the game, many of whom were playing just their first or second ever match. Their determination, teamwork, and energy on the pitch shone through, with tries coming thick and fast in front of a small but supportive home crowd.

Newbridge battled bravely but Portlaoise’s relentless pace and spirit proved too much on the day. The final whistle sealed not just a resounding win, but also a huge step forward in the growth of women’s rugby at the Portlaoise club.
Portlaoise Ladies are calling on more ladies to give rugby a try. Whether you’ve played before or are completely new to the sport, the team offers a welcoming, supportive environment where fun, fitness, and friendships are guaranteed.
