PORTLAOISE RFC U/14 boys' team recently embarked on an exciting weekend of rugby and fun when they headed to Wales for a two-day rugby festival. With just under 40 players, coaches, and parents set to make the journey, the boys were looking forward to a jam-packed weekend at Bethesda Rugby Club in North Wales.
The team set sail on Friday 12 April ready for the weekend where they would have their rugby skills tested, forge new friendships, and create unforgettable memories. With plenty of excitement on the horizon, this trip was set to be an incredible experience for all involved.

And what a weekend it turned out to be. Not only did play some excellent rugby, but went all the way to win the tournament’s Challenge Trophy.
The team’s players and mentors would like to thank the generous sponsors whose contributions ensured the team was kitted out in top-quality gear for the trip.
JS Ryan Freight Ltd., Castletown provided the team with stylish zipper tops, perfect for warm-ups and off-field activities. Neala Keating of Sherry Fitzgerald Hyland Keating, Portlaoise supplied the team with vibrant, custom-designed jerseys that will make them stand out on the pitch, while Shane Reilly of Shane Reilly Building Services provided the team with gear bags, ensuring the players have everything they need to stay organised throughout the weekend.

These thoughtful contributions from local businesses highlight the strong community spirit of Portlaoise RFC. The boys proudly wore their new gear as they took on other teams from across Wales and beyond, showing off the generosity and support of their sponsors.

The rugby festival itself was a great opportunity for the young players to challenge themselves and improve their skills, while also enjoying the cultural sights and sounds of Wales. This trip was not just about rugby; it was about building memories, making lasting connections, and strengthening the bonds between players, coaches, and families.

Portlaoise RFC is renowned for its community values, and this trip is another example of how the club, along with its sponsors, parents, and supporters, work together to create a nurturing and exciting environment for the players
