PORTLAOISE native and coach to the Portlaoise Panthers Men’s National Division 1 team, Jack Scully will take to the streets of Dublin to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society.
Early this year Jack Scully and his family’s world was rattled when his father, Kevin was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. As a result of the diagnosis and the treatment and supports his father has been receiving Jack decided to embark on the Dublin City Marathon.
“On October 26th, I’ll be running the Dublin City Marathon, and I’m using this opportunity to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society,” explained Jack.
”In January, my dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Like so many families, we’ve learned how powerless you can feel when faced with such a diagnosis.
"While we can’t change the outcome, we can make a difference by supporting the work of those who can.” Jack went on to say: I’ve seen firsthand the incredible support the Irish Cancer Society provides.
"From free information and counselling to practical care services, they are there for patients and families every step of the way. They also fund life-saving research, campaign for better policies, and work tirelessly to raise awareness and promote prevention.”
Jack is hoping people will support him in his efforts as every donation helps Irish Cancer Society continue this vital work, added Jack.
