Scoil Bhríde Portlaoise win by just two points in 13-goal thriller

SCOIL Bhríde Portlaoise were crowned Roinn 4 Hurling Champions after coming out on top in a 13-goal thriller against Rath NS.

Logan Peters Fitzpatrick was the hero as he scores 3-5 to lead his side to glory.

Rath NS opened the scoring from Ciaran Magennis, but Scoil Bhríde came roaring back hitting 3-1 without reply. The goals coming from Logan Peters Fitzpatrick, Ivo Kalnins and JJ Avodele to put their side into a commanding lead.

Rath then hit back with a goal from Magennis, but in the next attack the Portlaoise school got their fourth goal through Fitzpatrick.

Rath then fought back before half time with Magennis scoring 2-2 without reply. Scoil Bhríde would hit the last score of the half through Kalnins to leave the scores at 4-2 to 2-3 to Scoil Bhríde.

Fitzpatrick opened the scoring in the second half while Aivo Kalnins got their fifth goal.

But then the momentum swung to Rath NS as they hit a purple patch hitting 1-4 without reply, Rian Dooley nailed three points while Magennis found the net again to leave the scores at 5-3 to 3-6.

Fitzpatrick then got two brilliant scores from play, but again Rath came fighting back with a goal from Jack Carroll.

The goals kept on coming as Tyler Cregan and Magennis trading goals. There was still three more goals to come.

Ivo Kalnins and Ben Murphy got goals for either side and extra time looked on the cards. Fitzpatrick was the hero as netted their 7th goal which one the contest.

Dooley added another point, but it wasn't enough as Scoil Bhríde Portlaoise were crowned champions.
