Scoil Chríost Rí basketballers to contest regional finals
Scoil Chríost Rí Portlaoise Senior 'A' basketball team who will play Pres Kilkenny in the East Regional final
SCOIL Chríost Rí Portlaoise basketballers have qualified for two Midlands/South East Regional finals in St Mary’s Hall on tomorrow (Thursday 27 November), both against arch-rivals Pres Kilkenny.
The U/16 ‘A’ final tips off at 12.15pm followed by the Senior ‘A’ Final at 1.30pm.
SCR came through the group stages with wins over, Loreto Kilkenny, St Leo’s Carlow, Heywood Community School and Pres Thurles. Their only losses were against Pres Kilkenny with a six point margin in the U/16 ‘A’ and 15 points in the Senior ‘A’.
The U/16 ‘A’ team then won the semi-final against Longford while the Senior ‘A’ had a quarter final win over St Mary’s Naas followed by a semi-final win over Naas CC.
SCR recently lost to Pres Kilkenny in the U/16 ‘A’ All Ireland Cup quarter-final in the Neptune Stadium by a single point after a marvellous contest. The stage is set for two hotly contested finals with top class basketball envisaged in both games.
