LAOIS have six players named on the Joe McDonagh Cup Team of the Year for 2024. It is hardly surprising that after the epic final back in June, that Laois along with Offaly, also with six players named, form the backbone of the team.
The rest of the team is comprised of players from Kerry, Westmeath and Down.
Enda Rowland (St Lazarian’s Abbeyleix) fills the goalkeeper spot. Diarmuid Conway (Clough/Ballacolla) is right corner back and ahead of him on the wing is Padraig Delaney (The Harps).
Laois make up the midfield pairing with Paddy Purcell (Rathdowney/Errill) and Aidan Corby (Clough/Ballacolla). The sixth Laois player is Aaron Dunphy (Borris/Kilcotton) wearing the number 10 jersey.
The Joe McDonagh Cup Team of the Year will be guests of honour at a gala black-tie event hosted at Croke Park this Friday night which will also honour the Champion 15 team announced and the Tailteann Cup Team of the Year. The event will be streamed live by the GAA on Youtube from 7pm
