Kansas City Chiefs introduce American footballs to Dublin parks

An initiative to promote American football has been introduced to Dublin City, with 20 boxes containing two American footballs installed in parks around the city.

The initiative is in partnership with the Kansas City Chiefs and Dublin City Council to encourage local communities to get involved in American football.

Users can get their hands on the American footballs by unlocking the boxes via a dedicated app.

Kansas City Chiefs president Mark Donovan said: “By removing barriers to participation and making sports equipment freely available, we’re creating opportunities for more people to get active, spend time outdoors, and experience American football firsthand."

Eadaoin O’Connor, partnership manager at Dublin City Council, believes it'll be a great way to promote the sport.

However, the hub in Le Fanu Park in Ballyfermot was broken into just one week after installation, according to a report on Newstalk.
