Cork have beaten Tipperary 3-24 to 0-23 to land their first hurling league title in 27 years.

The Irish Times reported that, as a contest, the game may have dried up by half-time, but that there is no disputing Cork are the superior team of the hurling league.

The team scored three goals in the first half, with six starting forwards scoring in the 10-point win. Patrick Horgan scored the last point with a free.

Elsewhere, and despite a late and impressive rally from Offaly, Waterford held on for deserving win in the Division 1B hurling final.

The Irish Times reported that Waterford were certainly superior throughout the first half, but that Offaly will take some comfort from their spirited comeback.

The scoreline there was Waterford 1-27 (30) Offaly 2-20 (26).
