Jim McGuinness' men eased past Louth in the preliminary quarter final by 2-22 to 0-12.

Goals from Ciaran Thompson and Conor O'Donnell helped the Ulster champions into the next round.

Meanwhile Galway got the better of Down by 2-26 to 3-21 in Newry.

Shane Walsh scored 1-7 as the Tribesmen progressed to tomorrow morning's quarter final draw.

Damien Duff has left his role as manager of Shelbourne Football Club.

The ex Republic of Ireland international resigned from his position following Friday night's Premier Division loss to Derry City.

That loss put the defending champions 15 points behind league leaders and rivals Shamrock Rovers.

Duff questioned his players' commitment levels following Friday's game:

Shelbourne have thanked Duff for his efforts and praised his "transformational" impact by leading the club to the Premier Division title last year.

The club play Waterford in league action tomorrow with assistant coach Joey O'Brien taking charge in an interim capacity.
