The quarter finals of the Leinster Football Championship have thrown up a huge shock.

Defending champions Louth are into the next round as they beat Wexford 1-25 to 0-11.

In the Ulster Football Championship, Monaghan are into the semi-finals.

They survived a late fight back from Cavan to emerge 0-27 to 2-14 winners in Clones.

They will play Derry in the next round.

In the Munster Hurling Championship, Cork have gotten the win and the bragging rights over Tipperary.

The Rebels held off the challenge of their rivals to come out on top by 29 points to 1-22.

Clare also have their first win of the championship.

They edged out Waterford in a shootout in Ennis.

Final score there was Clare 2-33 Waterford 4-21.

It was a role reversal in the Munster Camogie championship.

Tipperary came out on top on that occasion, beating Cork by 1-18 to 2-9.

Snooker

Northern Ireland's Mark Allen has sealed a place in the last-16 of the World Snooker Championship.

He got past China's Zhang Anda 10-6 in the first round at the Crucible.

Englishman Barry Hawkins is also through after beating Matthew Stevens 10-4.

Ding Junhui has a commanding 7-2 lead over Dave Gilbert heading into the deciding session of their match.

Elsewhere, Ali Carter took the final frame to end his opening session with John Higgins 5-4 up.

Shane Lowry is falling away slightly during the final round of the Heritage Classic on the PGA Tour.

The Clara native is back on level par thru 12 holes today and lies on 7 under for the week.
