UL had gone extremely close to Sigerson glory before, losing deciders in 2022 and 2023, including the latter against their Wednesday opponents UCC.
With 24 Sigerson victories, UCC are second in the roll of honour, behind the bluebloods, UCD, who have claimed 34 titles.
