Two employees were assaulted during a robbery at a petrol station in Co Donegal last night.

The incident took place at the service station at Bridgend on the Donegal/Derry border just after 9pm.

A number of items were taken during the terrifying robbery.

Two men entered the premises, took a number of items and then proceeded to assault two staff members.

A Garda spokesperson said "Gardaí are seeking witnesses in connection with an assault incident that occurred at a filling station in Bridgend on the night of Monday the 31st of August at approx. 9.10pm.

"We are appealing to anyone who may have travelled in the area of Bridgend village or along the Derry/Bridgend road between 8.45pm and 9.30pm last night with a dash-cam to make the footage available to Gardaí.

"If anybody can assist with relevant information they are asked to contact Gardaí in Buncrana on 074-9320540 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111."
