SCOIL Mhuire Abbeyleix were crowned Division 1 Shield Champions after a dominant display against Castletown PS It took five minutes for the first score, and it was goal from Castletown with Keeva O'Brien Holmes hitting a rocket into the back of the net.
Holmes nearly had a goal five minutes later, but her shot was well stopped by Libby Hourigan.
Castletown had all the possession and would strike for a second goal through Holmes to give Castletown a commanding lead.
Elsa Mooney got Abbeyleix off the mark with a free in the 15th minute and that was to be the last score of the half as Castletown led 2-0 to 0-1.
Abbeyleix opened the scoring with a goal from a close range free from Mooney to bring her team back into the game.
She then hit a 45, before they struck for their second goal through Olivia Spillane to leave it 2-2 to 0-2 to Abbeyleix.
Spillane then hit are second goal after great work from Mooney to increase their lead. Mooney who was danger throughout got another point.
Abbeyleix netted their fourth goal of the game through Ella Casey and the game looked over. Castletown hit back with a point from Faye Lyons as there was only four minutes left.
Mooney hit another for Abbeyleix as the Castletown school had no answers to her brilliance and they were crowned champions.
