Dara Ó Briain set to serve up a load of laughs at Electric Picnic debut

Dara Ó Briain

ONE of the UK and Ireland’s favourite stand-up comedians, Dara Ó Briain, is making his Electric Picnic debut this year.

With over two million likes and followers on Facebook and 500 million online views, comedy sketch troupe Foil Arms and Hog will also make an appearance, their only Irish festival show this year.

Also on the line-up will be comedian, writer, illustrator and podcaster Jarlath Regan. His unstoppable, relentless, never-ending flow of fantastic tales and over-the-top, mind-blowing observations cause near hysteria wherever he performs.

Chris Kent is making a long overdue return to Electric Picnic. Another returnee is Belfast’s Shane Todd, described as a ‘modern day king of comedy.’ Cork native and Barcelona resident Kyla Cobbler will bring a freshness to the scene with her honest, blunt and deep storytelling style.

The Electric Picnic comedy tent opens at 1.30pm on Saturday and Sunday and has a packed fun-filled line-up with more comedians such as Rachel Galvo, aka The Shite Feminist. Vittorio Angelone, the Italian Irish comedian from Belfast will also be there, while Kilkenny’s Mike Rice, the world-class raconteur, with his dirty, hysterical comedy will have you in tears.

Then there’s Andrew Maxwell, who once won Celebrity Mastermind, the affable Dubliner Gearoid Farrelly’s with his blend of quick wit and impeccable comic timing and Emma Doran, a self-proclaimed chancer.

Overseeing proceedings in the comedy tent over the two days will be MC Karl Spain.

Down through the years, Electric Picnic has sought to provide a platform to the best of the new breed of comedians, so prepare to be wowed by the stars of tomorrow when Síomha Hennessy, Steve Spade, Emer Maguire, Bronagh Diamond, Darragh Bourke and Eddie Mullarkey play the biggest gig in their careers thus far.

The full list of performers in the comedy tent can be viewed on the Electric Picnic website.
