Pop star Ellie Goulding has announced she will release a new single this Friday, ahead of her sixth studio album this autumn.

The chart-topper, known for hits including Burn, Love Me Like You Do and River, sent fans into a frenzy as she revealed she will drop her newest track – titled Black Prada Dress – later this week.

The 39-year-old also told her 13.2 million fans that her upcoming record I Know Too Much, which is her first since 2023, will be released on September 4th as she took to Instagram to reveal the news on Tuesday.

The singer shared a high-contrast image of herself posed with a finger in her mouth and a hand on her head, as her long blonde hair and shadows conceal her face.

Beneath the post, she wrote: “I Know Too Much – my new album, yours on September 4th.

“And Black Prada Dress out this Friday x.”

The star also shared a link to her website, where the record is available to pre-order.

It comes after recent social media posts saw Goulding hinting at new music, having recently shared a video with an unheard track captioned “only you could call me trashy in my black Prada dress” – seemingly referencing her new single.

It was also reported that the singer-songwriter gave fans a preview of the upcoming track at Radio 1’s Big Weekend last week.

Goulding, whose real name is Elena, was recently made an MBE during an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle, for her services to biodiversity and the climate.

The Anything Can Happen singer was named in the King’s New Year Honours as she is a passionate advocate and philanthropist who has raised awareness for environmental causes and women’s issues.

Her 15-year career has also seen her dominate the charts, having amassed four UK number one singles and four UK number one albums as well as multiple Brit awards and two Grammy nominations.

She is also tied with Adele as the British female solo artist with the most number one UK albums and famously performed at the wedding of the Prince and Princess of Wales in April 2011.
