RTÉ 2FM is calling on aspiring DJs across Ireland to take their shot at the spotlight, with the launch of an exciting new competition offering one emerging talent the chance to perform live at the Forbidden Fruit Festival 2026.

As part of this year’s festival, which returns to the Royal Hospital Kilmainham for the June Bank Holiday weekend, the winner will secure a coveted slot on the 2FM Rising Stage, a platform dedicated to showcasing the next wave of Irish talent.

They said whether you are mixing tracks in your bedroom or building a name on the local club circuit, 2FM wants to hear from you. This competition is open to DJs aged 18 and over who are ready to take the next step in their music journey.

For the chance to win a live slot at one of the biggest festivals of the year, they are asking people to send a 20-minute mix, along with a short artist profile, to festivals@rte.ie before Friday, May 1st, 2026 at 5pm.

The selected winner will perform live at one of Ireland’s most prominent music festivals, joining a lineup that spans electronic, hip-hop, and alternative music, and performing on a stage renowned for championing emerging Irish acts.

Speaking about the competition, Adam Fogarty, director of music at RTÉ 2FM, said: ''We love dance music here on 2FM, and we want to shine a light on the next generation of Irish DJs from around the country.

"2FM is the home of 2FM Rising acts and has a proud history of identifying and nurturing incredible Irish talent.

"We're absolutely delighted to offer a new and upcoming DJ the chance to showcase their talents and reflect the vibrancy and diversity of our audience. Get in touch by May 1st - we can't wait to hear your 20-minute mix.
