A boy has been arrested in connection with the fatal assault of a man in Newport, Co Tipperary, last year.

The man in his 30s was conveyed to hospital with life-threatening injuries after the incident in the Castlecranna area.

He died in hospital on April 25th.

Gardai arrested a teenager in connection with the alleged assault on Wednesday morning.

He has since been charged and is due to appear before Tipperary Town District Court sitting at Thurles on Wednesday.
