All-Ireland camogie champions honoured by Laois County Council

A CATHAOIRLEACH’S reception was held in the Council Chamber of Laois County Council to celebrate and honour the Laois camogie team, winners of the All-Ireland Premier Junior Camogie Championship 2025.

The event was hosted by Cathaoirleach of Laois County Council, Cllr Barry Walsh, and attended by Councillors Conor Bergin, Ben Brennan and John Joe Fennelly, representing the county’s three Municipal Districts, as well as Councillors Paddy Buggy, Ollie Clooney, Padraig Fleming, James Kelly, John King, Tommy Mulligan and Caroline Dwane Stanley. Also present were Deputies Willie Aird and Brian Stanley, Laois County Council’s Chief Executive Michael Rainey and Senior Executive Officer Pamela Tynan.

Cllr Barry Walsh, Cathaoirleach at Laois County Council said: “It is a great honour to recognise the Laois Camogie team for their outstanding achievement in winning the All-Ireland Premier Junior Camogie Championship.

“Throughout this campaign, the team demonstrated exceptional resilience, passion and determination - qualities that reflect the very best of our county. Their hard work, skill and unity have inspired our community and set a powerful example for the next generation. We are immensely proud of their success and look forward to seeing what they will achieve next."

Each of the players and managers, Robert Jones and Pat Collier, were presented with a crystal award on the night. Clodagh Tynan, team captain, was presented with a Certificate of Achievement on behalf of the panel.

Michael Rainey, Chief Executive of Laois County Council said: “I want to commend the Laois camogie team on an exceptional championship campaign and a truly deserved All Ireland victory. This achievement reflects not only remarkable sporting talent, but also the dedication, discipline and teamwork that define this group of players and management.

“Your success has brought immense pride to the county and serves as an inspiration to young athletes across Laois. We are delighted to honour you today and look forward to supporting your continued progress in the years ahead."
