US pop-rock star Brandi Carlile has revealed she is planning a Christmas song with veteran British singer Sir Elton John.
The pair collaborated on the album Who Believes In Angels? earlier this year, which reached number one on the UK albums chart, and have both released festive songs such as Sir Elton’s Step Into Christmas and Merry Christmas, which features Ed Sheeran.
Carlile, 44, told the Press Association: “We keep talking about doing a Christmas song together, and I love Step Into Christmas, but I also love that Christmas song he did with Ed Sheeran a couple of years ago, that’s a really, really good song too.

“So I would love to write a Christmas song with Elton, he’s got all those chords, you know, to make this beautiful chordal.”
The singer, who has received 11 Grammy Awards, two Emmy Awards and has been nominated for an Oscar, has recorded a number of Christmas songs including Christmas 1984 and The Heartache Can Wait.
Speaking about her love of the festive period, Carlile added: “I f****** love Christmas music, I start listening to Christmas music on November 1st, no matter what.
“Every station tuned to Christmas music, house covered in Christmas lights, I’m a Christmas fanatic.”
The singer describes Sir Elton as her “biggest hero” and said building a working relationship with him was “life-affirming”.
Carlile has released nine studio albums since her career began in the 2000s, and saw her biggest year in the UK in 2025, with her Sir Elton collaboration giving her a first number one album in the UK, and her latest solo LP Returning To Myself reaching number 30.
She will return to the UK and Ireland in October next year as part of The Human Tour, with tickets on sale now from Carlile’s website.
