THE Camogie Association this week launched the 50th anniversary of their National Leagues. The occasion also marked Centra as title sponsor for the first time, in a four year partnership with the Camogie Association.
Camogie is one of the world’s fastest, most skilful and culturally significant sports. Rooted in Irish heritage and powered by elite athleticism, its profile continues to grow nationally. Along with Centra they share a clear ambition to elevate the sport, empower its athletes and inspire the next generation on and off the pitch.
The launch took place Galway and was attended by Camogie stars Clodagh Tynan (Laois), Rachael Trainor (Armagh), Aisling Maher (Dublin), Laura Hayes (Cork) and Galway All Ireland winner Niamh Mallon.
The leagues throw in this Valentine’s weekend, inviting fans to rediscover, or fall newly in love with, the magic of camogie. Reigning All Ireland champions Galway and defending League champions Cork return to action this weekend in what promises to be a season of intensity, rivalry and top class competition across every division.
For their opening game, Laois must travel to Killarney for an afternoon game against Kerry.
Centra and the Camogie Association is calling on families, communities and fans to get out, get loud and support their county.
