Hospital overcrowding: Over 640 patients waiting for beds
There are 642 people on trolleys in hospitals across the country on Friday, according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO).
There are 393 patients waiting in the emergency department, while 249 are in wards elsewhere in the hospital.
The hospital with the highest number of patients without a bed is University Hospital Limerick, with 108 people on trolleys.
47 are in the emergency department (ED), with 61 elsewhere in the hospital.
81 people are waiting for a bed in University Hospital Galway, with 51 patients on trolleys in the ED.
At St Vincent's University Hospital, 55 people are waiting for a bed, with 43 people in the ED.
Sligo University Hospital has 44 people waiting for a bed, with 25 patients in the ED.
