There is a warning of an increasing number of scam texts relating to HSE services.

The messages are specifically seeking payments for the renewal of medical cards.

The HSE says it'll never ask for payment by text, and is urging people to be cautious.

The HSE is urging people to never give their bank details or PIN to someone over the phone or online.

If someone suspects any concerns or suspicions, they should call the HSELive on 1800 700 700, or call the gardaí if they suspect fraud.

Members of the public have been asked to make vulnerable friends or family aware of the scam calls and text messages, and the advice that they should never provide bank details to someone over the phone or online.
